Celiac Disease

The Merchantman Pub hosted 3 events in May for the Canadian Celiac Association - Charlottetown Chapter. There was a "Pub Night", a "Soup and Sandwich Luncheon" and a "Sunday Night Dinner".

What is celiac disease? Celiac disease is a medical condition in which the absorptive surface of the small intestine is damaged by a substance called gluten - a protein found in wheat, rye, triticale and barley. There is no cure but celiac disease is readily treated by following a gluten-free diet.

Some of our menu item are gluten-free and some are modified to be gluten-free. The Pub menu, Dinner menu and the Appetizer menu all have plenty of choices for anyone who requires a gluten-free diet. Tell your server immediately of any food allergies. (S)He can inform you of your possible menu choices.
